Default Replacing 66 Vert Power Window Motor

I have the AIM and have read the applicable section. How difficult/time consuming is it to replace the window motor? I have a shop that will do it for $500. Sounds like alot. Is it reasonable or is it a saturday project?

Default Motor replacement

I had mine in and out a few times. As I remember, it was no big deal. There is a paper called Anatomy of a Midyear Door which is really well written. I think you can find it on Barry Ks site. The big thing to remember is not to remove the spring in the assembly when you remove it from the door. When installling, remember that the spring must be loaded. The spring helps the motor lift the window. As the window goes down, there is tension on the spring. A few photos taken along the way for referral would also be of great benefit. Good luck. Jerry
