Original Radio removal from a 67
I'm having some problems with my am/fm radio.
It seems to work for a while then I loose the sound. Although the radio is still on, there is no sound.
Looks like I need to restore it.
My question is what is the easiest way to remove the radio without damaging the centre area. I just had it painted and I would hate to have to redo everything.
Thanks

The radio comes out the driver's side of the console after removing both side console covers, the *****, **** nuts, and support bolt on the passenger's side. Also, unplug the speaker and unplug the power connector.

Are you sure it isn't the speaker cutting out? You may need to get the original re-coned, especially if it is the original 43 yar old unit. Aftermarket speakers ar out there but I am very leery of the Taiwan quality.
There are those that have their original radio "upgraded" to stereo and i-pods.
It all depends on how original you want to keep your Vette

Remove the side panel
slide it out.
Remove the glove box if you need more room..Thats what I did..Then I updated my 63 radio that had not worked in many many years..

Instructions for removal of C2 radio provided to me by Jerry Rudbeck of Electrodesign in So. Carolina. He is the best in the country for repair, restoration, and upgrade of your original Delco radio, and tuning to your speaker. As previously stated, the radio comes out the drivers side.
