exhaust manifold porting?

I used Hedman Hedders (cheap) for my 454, then had 'em Jet Coated locally for $250. Most builders say they're worth at least 50 hp..they fit well, just needed a couple dimples.

I am very surprised that with all those EXPENSIVE performance parts headers were not recommended...might as well have done a stock rebuild!

Default Exhaust

Headers were actually recommended however I wanted to keep everything "stock" looking under the hood...plus I hear headers are also louder than stock manifold and with the side pipes I thought it might be too loud

Depends on the headers. When I replaced the stock manifolds with Doug Thorley headers on my '64, the car got quietier.

Dont waste your time get some headers so that beast can breathe.
Leave the manifolds on a shelf in case one day...
