Guys, I don't know If I qualify to be included In your club, but I am currantly In the process of having a Vert, 396/425 block s/n 5121966, TO624TF, 3855962 restored. Unfortunatly, the VIN Is 194675S105589. Just about everything Is being restored to be close to what a 396 should be. This Is my dream car and I'm having It restored just the way I want It. Paint Is a 66 Nassau Blue because I love that color. Engine completly rebuilt with solid lifters, bored 30 over, new cam close to original. Hopeing compression Is still close to 11:1. Waiting for replies.

I worked with a guy that bought a red 396 convert from VV Cook in Louisville. I think it was one of the first 396's around. He owned a trailer court near Lafayette IN and put a square hitch receiver behind the license plate. I think he said he pulled a 26ft travel trailer around with it. So if you found traces of something welded on that rear crossmember, I may be able to find the original owners name in my files.

Default Trim tag

I have been working on a friend of mine's 396 roadster. Original motor, heads and factory carb. I may have a chance to buy it. BUT, it has a replacement trim tag. We have verified that via the trim tag book and an NCRS member. My question is. How does this affect the value? It has a fresh paint job and needs to be assembled. Everything is there.

Default 65 Coupe original 396/425

My coupe was off the road for 34 years with 25,888 original miles. I just completed it early spring, now I just need time to drive it. (no trailer).

Please add my car to the list: 20460. 15 option car with red/white two tone leather interior. Considered by some to be quite rare.

Thanks for the welcome back. Just getting back into assembling the car. Spent a small fortune on parts.

Thinking about the brakes...sat a long time (30 years) but parts look good. Got a NOS M/C but calipers...? To be safe it seems we should get rebuild 546**** calipers w ss sleeves...

Last edited by Larry N. Johnson; 11-24-2012 at 02:22 PM. Reason: caliper casting number correction
