Is anyone still thinking of paying these prices in the current economy?? Considering it is covered by the shielding anyway I don't get it. Pilot Dan

Until it sells it's simply an asking price from an optimistic seller.
On the other hand, if someone with the means to hire a no-expenses-spared shop to restore their corvette, the shop can simply buy the cap for the stated price and pass on the costs as part of the restoration.
Either way, asking prices are just asking prices, they aren't sales prices.

Who needs to collect cars when the action is in rare OEM parts? Cheap insurance and NO garaging hassle!
It would RUIN the value of that fine piece to scuff its towers with plebian rubber plug wire ends! And even a '67 L-88 should be considered a mere pedestal (minus shielding and wires) to display this paragon of mid-century American mass-produced craftsmanship!

To the original question, yes, there are plenty of people that can spend that kind of money in this economy. Nobody in this thread it would seem. I saw an interview with a 30-something hedge fund manager showing his home and car collection. An arrogant @ss but mega-wealthy. He doesn't give a cr@p if something is reasonably priced if he wants it.
It was only a few months ago right here that a fella paid $10,000 for the original documentation for his big block C2 to some guy that turned up with it.

uh.....no and no to 175 also, sometimes you just gotta say no to the being correct bull and say enough is enough, beside it was original only once and a correct cap still makes it non-original

The fool say he has no problem keeping them, and cash and local pick up only.......? He must have escaped from the funny farm just lately...
