Hi All,
New here - I mostly hang out on a Trans Am forum but had recently come across some interesting info about the 1953 Corvette that my buddies Dad helped to design so thought I'd join this forum.
Another friend owns the body shop where I had my own 1971 Trans Am painted and they also did one of the original five a few years back, too. This car has since changed hands for somewhere around 1.5M and I don't know the current whereabouts, but you can see the car on their web site. Byers Custom and Restoration in Auburn, WA.

They had a typo in the title and called it a 1963....lol
Is anyone interested in the info on the 1953 Corvette that I know about? Some fairly current and interesting news. I would start a new thread about that but I don't want to bore anyone.

Grand Sport Rear Brake Scoops
I have photos of the inside of the rear wheel wells showing duct works for cooling the brakes, however anyone have photos or can describe what the original cutouts were inside the top fender scoops?
Thanks all

Larry,
This is the interior of one of the rear scoops on #003. Is this what you are looking for?

GS Rear Air Scoop...
Larry: From a plastic Air Scoop, I made a 'glass one, and Bonded it
to the Underside of the Rear Deck...This was all done, before we
bonded the Deck to the Body. Trunk Box also bonded to rear
deck at this time....Hope this helps

Attention to detail.
[QUOTE=zoraarcus;1592247966][QUOTE=jim lockwood;1592247814]Larry,
Hi Larry, given your meticulous attention to detail, I thought you might like this Sebring technical pass label. I produced this for myself but am happy for you to make use of it if you want. The pdf a/wk file is produced to a trim size of 4" square. I'm not sure what exact size the original was but you should be able to scale to suit. If for some reason it won't open from the forum I could send it to your email direct.
Best regards Marty

I took a coin slot counter sunk dzus and drilled a hole down the center and with a Drexel tool, shaped out of scrap alum a tree shaped part with stud to fit down in drilled hole. Then with a little jb weld in hole and brazzed top. The hood one has more or a alien movie head shape......hope it holds!

Larry, do you any good references to the other glass decals you need?
If so, I might be able to help with artwork.

Safety Car
I can get some pictures of the Revs car tomorrow. I'll do the stickers/and or painting.
Revs went through a lot research on the stickers because they seemed to change for every race. Right now it done up in the Sebring trim. They decided that was the most significant race in the car's history.

Larry, the unique "3" is a bit of an oddity font wise and it doesn't seem to be centred on the black background either. I've tried to replicate as best I can and again I've guestimated the relative size overall as 4" x 5".

Glimps of GS #67
I was watching an old interview video of Carroll Shelby on YouTube talking much about the Cobra and the Mustangs. It included a snippit of one of the Grand Sports with a #67. Just a quick blip, only 8 seconds, but it's enough to make you want to see more.
Catch it at minute 20:48 to 20:55. Not sure which GS# it was or where it was racing.
Funny how Carroll talks about beating the Corvettes. He was not a big fan.

"#67 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport (S/N 005) finished 3rd in the Road America 500 Miles race, at Elkhart Lake in 1964"
I was there and was in the tech barn when Jim fired the beast up to leave. I thought he was going to blow the windows out of the place!
BTW, the Walt Hangsen and Augie Pabst driving the Ferrari 250 LM (S/N 6047) in the picture finally passed the GS and won the race. The story was that they didn't have a transporter for some reason so the Ferrari was driven from O'Hare to Road America.
Shel was bragging in the video because a Cobra (CSX 2494) was second.
