The tooth bracket attaches to the inside edges of the bumpers. When you put the bumpers on the car because you end up having to fuss with them while getting everything lined up like you want it, I would strongly encourage you to get some green painters tape (NAPA has it in various widths) that can easily come off the paint without hurting it.
you want to protect the paint as well as the chrome finish on the bumpers......the tape is a cheap safety investment.....also, in some places I put duct tape over the green tape to give it extra safety. When I was putting the teeth on, I wanted to make sure that the edges of the teeth didn't mark up the chrome pot metal trim above or below.....if youi put duct tape on, make sure you put the green tape on first....the duct tape will be hard on the paint....
