Wheel Poll for 61
Getting ready to upgrade to radials from bias ply. Deciding to keep two sets of wheels and tires, stock and custom (17x7). I photochoped some wheels that i like. Which one do you like? In order 1 to 6, brand is Centerline. Thanks

I prefer the classic look GM used in there styling department by using Dayton knock-off wire wheels...which incidently are the same wheels used in the popular 'Route 66 TV show on their 61`s....
I just looked closer at the pictures above and saw the cement block, the broken windows in the building and thought, [Detroit} and i`ll be damned it is......

17"s look good on old cars you just need at least a 50 or 55 series tire to give you some sidewall height.
The Saltflats look great I think you have them listed as Blvd...
I like em on Fred's car in the 15" but I think they would look even better in 17". Fred hope you don't mind me keeping and posting a pic of that beautiful car...

I like custom rims on almost any car. But, IMO C1's need to be lowered in order for the right look. I realize these pics are doctored up, and maybe the car will actually sit lower. Of these 6, I go for the #3 look. Kinda like Cragar S/S or American Torque Thrusts. I would opt for chrome over polished aluminum. I spend a lot of time polishing my aluminum TT's. By the looks of the building in the background you should invest in a handgun to protect your car. The neighbors obviously already have theirs!

I have a tendancy to lean towards wires as well - especially since these Kelsey-Hayes ('54 Buick) have been on the car for over 48 years:

The rims in the pics look more like 20's, and they are not appealing..........
As for the style, they could all look good to owner, and that is who it needs to please.

I like #5 or #6. I think #5 would look great with a gray center. If you go with 17x7s and you use a 55 series tire you will not have to worry about the "rubberband look". As has been already mentioned the "right stance" really makes all the difference in the world when using 17" or larger diameter wheels.

I just don't think there is enough of them on the road to justify big **** rims to individualize the car ? They just look so nice with the caps and a white wall ! But hey it's your car the Torque Thrust look is popular in the States and probably look the best in the cut and paste photos ! Stewy

I put Crager 18X7's on my 61 with 4" back spacing and Nitto 225/45R18 with no problems, I do wish I went with a larger side wall tire though. heres some more aftermarket C1 wheels http://www.stl-vettes.com/65Vette/wh.../C1_Wheels.htm

Just for comparison, one picture with 17s and one picture with 15s
Same location, only with my wife in one picture.
I like the look and handling of the 17s on my own car.I'm am looking for dog dish for a 59-62 to put wider than stock 15" painted rims for an altered look.I like the best of both!
