mine is 188642 so our cars were 784 units apart on the assembly line. I assume these pillar covers were the same for coupe and convertibles. Now maybe john z or someone will chime in to confirm that a part defect like this may have been tolerated for several hundred units with a patch repair work around.
My '65 is 123 units after yours. If there is a way for me to check mine non-dissassembled I would be glad to.
BTW, I "lost" your thread and freaked - yours is going to serve as a template for my '65 rebuild in the future. Guess I need to save a copy, or are you going to publish this?

I freaked as well when it got stickied...I looked for a while then saw it, whew! I hadn't thought about publishing it but I probably should. After the stickie stroke, I printed all the pages to that date

Ok, sorry for the delays. Looks like I am about to get ramped up on the build again. I took the jeep back up to my dads after replacing the generator. I have all the repairs on my bike done just in time for the ride this coming weekend.
When I went up north with the jeep this friday, I stopped in at the fiberglass shop in evansville, IN. Gotta say everyone there was super nice and Lee the owner gave me a personal tour of the facilities. I now understand why it is so hard to get them on the phone, they are super busy and an old school shop with work schedules all on paper.
I'm still a few weeks from getting my front clip produced but they had my rear quarter panels so I went ahead on got them while I was there. Got home late this evening but was chomping at the bit to at least get one mocked on.
Looks like the front clip should be ready in 2-3 more weeks

I am going to post a separate thread on alignment and fitting of the body panels. Should everything be dry fit from rear quarters all the way to front clip then work from the back to the front? I thought I read somewhere that was the best way to work it...

Looks like it's going pretty well so far. I'm way back on about where you started. lol
Would you mind a question on the body removal ? I have a 64 convertible. I removed all but the last 2 back body bolts. They seem like the nut is spinning. Where the heck did you find the nut to hold it while you loosened the bolt ? I don't see anything inside the car.
Thanks !
Dom

Just infront of the tires in the wheel well ther is a little panel that is held on with four fasteners ,remove the screws and pop off little 2X4 panel and you will see the caged bolt.

Last Bolts
I took a picture but, for some reason, it won't download. Going to look at Noland Adam's video again. Maybe there's something on there.
Thank you again !

Dom...
not sure on a '64 convertible. If I recall there may be another body mount location that is different than the 65 coupe (perhaps mid frame between the rear kick up and the front turn in?). You'll probably want to start a thread and get some of the 64 experts on here to give you some guidance.

Got the answers I was looking for on body panel fitment. Thanks to all for the advice/insight. Since I'll be fitting the doors I have some further cleanup to do on those panels and have to get the pillar panels attached. That will be the next activity.

Hi all...
Been a bit busy, daughter turned 16 and got driver license, went on a 2 day antique motorcycle ride (300 miles in 2 days with kickstart bikes) and I acquired a 1952 panhead harley. I had to have something to do while I am waiting for my front clip
Speaking of front clip, it should be ready this week or next...then hold on.

I'm baaack....
So the filler project was a 52 FL panhead. It was not running and pretty rough cosmetically and had some mechanical issues. I got it running, driving and kick starting reliably in a couple of weeks. I determined that it did not have enough original parts to warrant a restore, so I sold it to a guy who was super excited to finish it into a period chopper/bobber. I think I found my retirement supplement, restoring stuff is what i love. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I am still at least 10 years away from retirement
Spent the last few days cleaning up the shop and getting back from a motorcycle project and back to the car project. (Although there is another potential motorcycle deal in the works)...I really like working on the bikes, much simpler and compressed timeline compared to a car.
anyway, i digress. I will be calling tomorrow to see if the clip is ready...fingers crossed. If ready I will pick it up Friday.

have not gotten an answer on the clip yet. LB Composites (formerly sermersheim) still works the old fashion way (phone/fax) LOL. If I don't hear from them by noon then I will not be getting the clip this weekend as I will be on my way to pick up another motorcycle project. This is a good one if it pans out as advertised. I'll just leave that tease to add to the suspense. I'll post when the deal is done, I'm a bit superstitions that way...
