Default 1967 Grill refinishing

Has anyone had any success refinishing the satin finish on a 1967 grill. Some on the satin finish on mine is worn off and Corvette Central sells a product to repaint the finish.

I did a 66 grille over with Krylon dull aluminum paint, it was right on, I don't know where to find this paint anymore it is not sold at home depot anymore, if the paint you are looking at is dull aluminum it should be correct.

Thanks for the reply. Did you prime the grill before painting it and how is it holding up?

You need the Krylon 1613 which is only sold on the commerical side of the business now. Go to a big commerical paint dealer or use the SEM trim paint.

I did not prime it and it has been a few years, It still looks good. The old krylon is lacquer, not sold in stores, found it at McMaster-carr.

Krylon 1613 is semi flat black. He's needing a color in the silver spectrum.

I used the same argent silver rattle can paint I used on my rally wheels. Masking the non painted edge of the fins was very difficult. I used a small exacto knife to scrape off the overspray........

Welcome to the CF! No, the grills had the chrome highlites with the dull silver surfaces, no black. Some one put the custom touch on yours. Dennis

My '67 is number 22861. It has the aluminum colored grill (no black) and it doesn't have a grab handle.

Like Nowhere Man suggested, start a new thread and post your questions with some pics and folks will help you sort this out. This thread is 5 years old .

I haven't done it yet but I have used master series primer and paint on my 67 frame. The primer is a flat aluminum color and seems to be bullet proof. The contact info nomorerust.com tel. 1-800-833-9833. Hope this helps . Jeff
