I had a 63 with the split window removed and a tilt front end. Sold it to a guy in Erie PA who put the split window back and a ZR 1 engine in it. Anyone know this car? Just wondering if it was still around.

Hi Ed,
I have your '63 #4,666 listed in my file as being a Red/Red NOM 4spd Coupe. That's all the info I have for it.
Is this correct?
Ed, is your coupe an original Red car? Would you mind telling me it's body number and tach red line?
Thanks!
Syd

Syd, my 1963 coupe tachometer red line @ 6000 RPM and I guess this is the body # 30837S104666.My vette is red on red, and I had the engine overhauled and they told me it was a 340 HP motor. I had one just like this one in 1966 a year after high school. Had to sale it when I got married, because my wife couldn't drive a stick shift. I should have gotten rid of her instead of my vette! I finally did 19 years later. I finally found this '63 about 10 years ago.

Now even more confused regarding George's post above ???
So your serial number is #4,666. Your Body number is on your Trim Tag along with your paint code etc. Could you please tell me your trim tag information including the body number?
A whole bunch of 63's were repainted Red over the yrs so that's why I try to verify the original color when possible.
Thanks Ed!

I have noted when some cars were recorded with their split window removed. A small handful at best, probably about 5-10 cars to date I'd say. I think I remember one car that I listed without it's split window that later reappeared with it's split back in place so I'm sure the same can be said about quite a few others as more and more get restored before I happen to come across them.

Hey Syd I have a couple questions for that you may be able to help me with regarding this car. 1st with the low vin# and body# is it safe to assume that this is a first half of 63 production car and would've been a bwT10 car and not a muncie? And owner said it was an original 327/340hp 4spd, if that is correct what rear gear ratio would this have been from factory? And last question is would this have been a wide ratio or close ratio 4 speed and how can I tell. Thanks for your help or anyone that can offer accurate info on these questions.

I thought I'd throw this picture of a friend's '63 on here. The photo was taken around '75 or so and the car has basically been sitting in the garage since. Our club was running a speed event on an old go-cart track at the time. I believe it is a 340 hp car.
It was the same day my avatar picture was taken.
