History of a Black 63 split?
Hi Dave,
I have no idea how many remain or are registered but I have kinda kept track for over 15 yrs.
Including some 63's that were recorded prior to me and some cars recorded by others, and also including some that were wrecked or stolen etc. over the yrs, I've listed over 3,100 cars in my '63 file.
Of the approximate 3,100 '63 total, 1770 are split windows.
I'd guess that a good number survive, at the very least double that figure and most probably quite a bit higher.
I would love to hear from '63 owners who would contribute to this file.

My brother purchased a black 63 split coupe 2 years ago and we are trying to obtain the history on the car. We requested the information from the State of Missouri and the stated it is not allowed to give out the Information because of the privacy act. Does anyone know how to sidestep this law and obtain very important information? The VIN is 30837S108535. Would love to talk.

As already stated privacy laws prevent any past ownership information from being shared.
Good luck

Hi Syd.....here is one that would shock me if you had......this is a 63 vert 30867s115719. I have had this car since 1992.....I have worked overseas for most of this so it has sat but I am now in the process of restoring it. I bought if from a guy I was working with. He had the car since early 70's.

Very solid advise from deejaydu. Join NCRS and then request the Shipping Data Report for your brother's '63 and chances are they will send you a letter with the dealer and location it was originally delivered to in 1963. As I've written before, I received my shipping report and with this knowledge was able to track down the owner of the now closed dealership in upstate NY where my car was ordered in '63. I spoke to him and he instantly remembered my coupe and told me who the original owner was and he led me to the family who owned it until 1967. Without this report I probably would have never found the original owner. I also posted an Information Wanted ad in the NCRS Driveline magazine years earlier and was contacted by another owner who had my car around 1969-70. It seems that I'm now just missing one other owner between '67 - '69.
Dave could you please tell me a bit more about your brothers Coupe #8,535. Is it originally Tuxedo Black? What color is the interior? Engine hp and transmission type etc. and also what is it's body number?
Thanks and good luck with your history search!
It took me awhile with mine but is very interesting to do and rewarding if you keep at it.

Thanks again!

New to the Forum...getting started...wanting to share photo of the SWC I bought last year...wish you could see the 'patina' of the original paint in person...this photo makes the car look like it has been repainted, but I bought it because of the original paint...difficult to find 'excellent/original/unrestored' in a car like this

Welcome to the forum. Beautiful picture of your split!
My '63 is also Saddle/Saddle so I've got a special interest in seeing more pictures of your car!
Could you please tell me your cars serial number and engine/tranny combo? Does it have leather, power options? Also, what is it's body number?
Thanks!
Syd
