I ordered 340HP, 4 speed (T10), positraction, 4:11 gears, hardtop, AM radio, white wall tires. I still have the original engine, transmission, hardtop, radio. I do not have the original tires. They (all 5 of them) were worn out at 19,000 miles. I had the tie rods moved to the front holes the summer of 1963. They are still in that location. In the 70’s I replaced the shoe brakes with disc brakes, installed headers, side tubes, Pertronix igniter & MSD ignition.

The frame had to be repaired from all the salt driving the summer of 1981. My sons and I disassembled it, had the frame repaired and with help, put it back together that fall.

I drove it 63,000 miles the first 2 years. Since then have averaged over 10,000 miles per year. Current mileage is 548,000. It has been driven in all lower 48 states, Washington DC & all the Canadian provinces. Our (my wife & I) 2007 trip out west was 6,000 miles. Our 3 week trip to Labrador in 2008 was 7,100 miles. Since 2007 I have been running a new 350CI, 400HP, 10 to 1, no lead power, with 3:08 gears. Since 2007 we have averaged 14,000 miles per year.

I'm not sure if you posted on this thread before but I had your '63 #13,412 recorded, including the note that your interior was now Black. I had your car listed as being a 300hp but I see the high redline tach in your picture. Is it in fact an original 340 car?

Thanks George!
Syd
I don't know (I was led to believe it was a 340HP) --- it has DATE correct block but not the original. It is now a 365hp with 340hp stickers It now has correct air cleaner (not as in pic). Also has '65 Disc brakes (all gm parts)

Hi Racer,
Sorry for the late reply.
Would you mind sharing the VIN so that I can include it?

Thanks!

Default 63 tub

This is my original, unmolested 1963 Coupe. Yes purist, I butchered it and converted this beauty into a Grand Sport 2 pictured above.

I think the D2 and the D3 are one day apart. But I'm not sure where the "D" (April????) comes from as everything else points to an extremely early December 1962 Vette.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for your 63's info! What engine hp and transmission does it have? Any power options etc.?

I have '63 #4,208 listed as being a White/Black 340 4spd Roadster with black soft top. It is also listed in the C2 Registry and is in Finland!
'63 #4,209 is recorded as a Silver/Black 300 Auto Coupe with ps/pb/pw and was now painted Grey when listed. I'm not sure what's up with the automatic though because it had a high hp tach?
Body #2,152

Thanks again 327carguy!

Pete,
D2 translates into the 2nd week of December and D3 is the 3rd week.

Hi robski2,
Owned since '68!
It looks like you've got some real nice toys.

I had your Roadster #19,840 recorded. I have it down as originally being Black/Red and have it's body number listed as well.

Thanks robski!

Syd,

The Corvette is a Daytona blue with dark blue interior, no power steering, no power brakes, an AM only radio, electric windows, the high RPM tack with the low (60 pound) oil gage.

Only two modifications I have made were changing to radial tires after purchase and moving the interior mirror to a mounting at the passenger side sun visor mounting.

I purchased from the second owner who had originally purchased from the first Owner who lived 30 miles from where I lived. So back in 1998 I made sure to meet the original owner and find out as much as I could about its history. He (the original owner) told me it was originally a fuel injected car which he had removed the unit from and replaced with the 129 Intake Manifold and 3461S AFB.

More to this story but I'm afraid of timing out.

Im looking for a little help, not sure if its very feasible though. I have come across a coupe with a production sequence number less than 100100 but it needs quite a bit to bring it back to its original glory. Is there any way to find out how many are left out there with a lower production number? Or even how many of the first 100 built were a coupe could be useful

I own a Sebring Silver SWC with red interior. VIN 30837S107362. I can take some pictures of the VIN/trim tags later. A couple pictures of the car are in my post in the intros forum. It's a four-speed, no A/C, no power brakes or steering, but it does have power windows. AM only radio. I think the build date was 23 January '63, or about then, but I'm sticking with that since 23 January is also one of my sons' birthdays.

A prior owner pulled the 327/340 (has the higher redline tach but no evidence of being a fuelie) and dropped in a 396. And they swapped out the hood to accommodate. I'm embarking on a journey to make it safe and drivable and at least look more original.

Hi Drungo,
I did not have your '63 listed. Could you please tell me it's body number to complete it's entry. I'll take a guess at body #4,025?
It sure would be nice to know what that prior owner did with your original motor!

Thanks Drungo!

You're welcome. I'll try to get that body number tonight. And, yes, I'd love to know where the original block is but that's probably lost to history.
