Default cleaning my 66 conv. top

What does the precinct recommend for cleaning a white top?
I have used most of the standard stuff.

I have a white convertible top on a '90 Mustang GT. I have owned the car since it was new and have always used a soft brush and a product called Spray Nine. It has kept the top looking new now for 21 years. Still a bright white original top. Wet the top, spray the product on, let it sit for a few minutes, scrub and rinse. Then wash the car. Works for me.

Meguiars #39 Heavy-Duty Vinyl Cleaner. I just used it today, and it worked beautifully, turning a grey top into a white one. I followed the cleaner with a thorough Vinylex treatment. Here's a link to an excellent article on the subject: http://store.carcareonline.com/carea...dsofttops.aspx Whatever you do, do not use Ajax, Comet or any other scouring powder. The article explains why.

The white top on my 61 was cleaned with Comet or Ajax, which ever was available at the fraternity house and the wheel brush to scrub it.....it was also great to clean the exhaust crap off the lower part of the rear fender emitted from those stupid wheel well exit tail pipes........

I use Sunlight dish liquid (less abrasive than powders), warm water, and a medium stiff brush in circular motions on white tops. Whatever you use, make sure you soak at close range when rinsing, Sun and leftover soap degrade the material.
