Default Break in oil ??

Just had my engine (327/340hp) rebuilt. Is the oil they used to dyno the engine ok to keep it in the engine for the first 100 miles? Or should I change it now?
Thanks

Is the oil they used for Dyno test the same oil they used during initial startup and break in? If so change it immediately. You'll have all kinds of junk in it including cam lube and any particles from break in.

If they changed the oil after break in then I don't see any reason you couldn't run the oil for another 100 unless something odd happened during break in.

I had an engine built and run in on the dyno recently. They suggested leaving the break in oil in it during storage but to change it before I fired it back up after installation. But I would be sure to use an oil with the additives necessary for a solid lifter cam. That was their suggestion although I can see arguments for changing it right after pulling it off the dyno too.

All the cam manufacturers say empty just after run in. I can see no reason to keep the run in oil for the future. Might as well let fresh oil sit. Then you don't have to wonder if you changed it or not.

I agree-- I just got off the phone this morning with Comp cams about break in oil- (theirs), and the recommendation was to change it after breaking the lmotor in, and then be sure to use a ZDDP additive after changing to fresh oil. Engines are expensive- oil is cheap.

Thanks for the quick advise.... I changed the oil this p.m. Used Brad Penn 10-30 which has the zinc additive. Now, how soon should I change the oil for the second time?
Thanks

I don't know if it was worth 140 bucks, but it looks good.

Just for show I hope- I have people ask to have their pic taken with my patrol car all the time.
