New addition: '65 Fuelie Convertible
We picked up a '65 this past week and have it over at dad's garage now. We got her out today for a drive during lunch, and was able to snap a few pictures.
It's a convertible Fuelie, that is really straight, just missing one major item, the FI unit. The car is out of the Fluker, Mississippi area, so if anyone knows anything about the car, then please let me know.
The serial number on it is 118562 and puts its build around May 29th, 1965.
Minus the FI Unit with a conversion to a L79 intake and carb, the drivetrain appears to be original. I am not an expert by any means, but the engine stamping looks good, broach marks are there, along with two superficial scratches over one area on the pad. See the engine pad picture below.
The other big ticket item is at some point, she's had her colors changed, several times too. The car is currently painted white, with a solid blue interior. The trim plate you'll see below, has it as a Nassau Blue paint code and a Blue & White combo interior. There are a couple areas that have some red as well.
Ok, on with some pictures, and a few questions...
A couple of exterior shots.
Here's a shot in the garage, with the hardtop on it. She has two tops, with the convertible top being white. That will look really sharp against the Nassau Blue, and the Blue/White combo interior.
Here's a shot of the engine. If you look real close across at the driver side fender, you'll see 3 holes for the air cleaner. There is also the larger hole in the radiator core support for the air duct.
Here's a shot of the engine pad. It reads F 042 IHG.
Here's a couple of pics of the tranny.
Trim plate and vin tag.
A couple of pictures of the gauge cluster, 6,500 redline tach and 80 lb oil pressure gauge.
She also has a AM/FM radio, and power antenna.
So one of the things that I am interested in hearing some response from the experts on this car is about the HG engine code for the 327/375hp FI, and how this car does have the TI amplifer box on the passenger side of the front of the radiator support. Is this something they would have done for a car with the AM/FM radio option?
The plan right now for the car is to get the timing adjusted, and check out the brakes. She has a small hesitation in 1st gear, and the guy we picked it up from thought when he checked the timing it had too much advance on it. The brakes also pull slightly to the left, so need to check those out.
Thanks for checking her out, and let me know your thoughts on it.

Congratulations, it's nice!!!! Same colors as mine with my hardtop. Had it been me, the deal breaker would have been the two bolts missing from the glove box support. Dennis

From the appearance of the fuel line adapter on the dual feed Holley, it's not a 2818. You might check that the vacuum advance is hooked to full manifold vacuum - it will help get better off idle throttle response.

White and Blue cars are sweet... Great new addition, I hope that Dad wasn't to upset with me after the conversation we had at C&C.. That car is awesome, great find man.

If it has T.I., it was added - if it had T.I. originally, the suffix code would be "HN".

John, thanks for that feedback too. I was thinking that the TI and possibly the radio was added as well. I guess once we get back behind the dash, we may end up seeing some signs of the wiring harness being spliced. Or, if it was a radio delete car, would the harness be the same as a car with the AM/FM radio option. Or did they have two different harnesses? One for the radio delete, and one for a radio optioned car? Or was it possibly just a AM radio car? Just curious on that.

Thanks for the feedback on the harness. So, if a car was a radio delete car, it had the same harness (and probably the connections for a radio) even if it didn't leave the factory with one in the dash?
This is really interesting, so let me know your thoughts on that.
Jim, thanks for the info on the back up lights too.
