Congratulations on your progress, and ploease do show us pictures!
FYI, the chrome trim on my car is not correct, it should be painted but a previous owner added a few chrome accents to the interior, and I plan to keep them as is.

Jim--progress today but as with all things vintage auto there were some set backs. Posting some pictures and a few other notes for those who may have their car "in boxes." Of note, two of the screws are a different size. All screws are a #8 x 1/2" except two that are #8x1". Those two go into the inner most mounting point on the left and right side molding (a pillar molding) according to the factory assembly manual. I had tried to attach the side moldings (above the door) ahead of the A pillar molding--no can do on a 64 at least. So, I have now gone with this sequence for installation of interior trim:
1. Lower molding (at base of windshield)
2. Upper molding (that rear view mirror installs on top of)
3. L and R side A pillar moldings
4. Side molding (above the door--sliding these into the recess of the A pillar molding)
5. Halo panel (mine was out so just made it all easier)
My A pillar pieces did not fit right and still working them a bit to get to match the upper molding.
I do recommend taping up the side of your new headliner--my side pieces had some sharp edges on them and left some small marks.
I also had to move back the insulation that was in place to find the very small holes for the top screw to go into place on the A pillar moldings--not obvious at first blush of the project.
I also used a small pick to help align the holes in the trim to the clips as I worked the trim into place
I used the Al Knoch repop headliner and it was a perfect fit.
Thanks again!
Bo

Burning Brakes
I am curious about the chrome trim pieces at the windshield and A Pillar. I have never seen those before. My car has painted trim in the same color as the interior. Did you add that or did that car come with them?
Thanks,
Doc

I had the same problem with a Corvette America piece; the adhesive failed the FIRST time I took the car out in the heat...
I returned it and got an Al Knoch headliner and no more problems - I live in Orlando...

Since this thread is about a 65, that's what I thought we were talking about. Your quote from the Zip catalog is referring to hardtop headliners. It also says "Coupe headliners are all vinyl". That may be what they are selling but that's not a correct statement regarding the originals.
