Which Car do you think will increase the most in value over the next 10 years?
I would like forum members to weight in on which car they think would produce the most profit in ten years. Looking at the following three cars that are for sale at a Corvette vendor.
1) 1967 Corvette Convertible, 427-390 hp, factory air, 4 speed, numbers match, also has factory original body/trim tag. Marlboro Maroon paint with Black stinger, White/Black combo interior, and White soft top. Rare and original color combination! Engine, transmission, and rear end are all numbers matching. Body has not been off the frame and it does not need. Paint, interior, chrome, brakes, wheels, and tires are very nice. Optioned with factory air, power steering, power windows, telescopic, headrests, shoulder harness, 3.36 posi, SS brakes, AM/FM radio, tinted glass, Kelsey bolt-on aluminum wheels, and 7.75x15" white stripe tires. Most all factory correct type components including the spare, clear floor mats, seat belts, washer system, shifter, shielding, braided wires, air cleaner, five Kelsey B.O. aluminum wheels, gas door assembly, bowtie mirror, glove box door, owners manual, sales brochure, and T-3 headlights. Documented with the tank sticker (build sheet), numbers sheet, and maintenance receipts. This is a rare documented N89 bolt-on wheel car and one of only 720 produced. Looks, runs, and drives excellent. CC:2 $100,000.00 with Kelsey wheels.
2) 1967 Corvette Convertible, VIN #108246 - - COPO/S290C, 427-390 hp, 4 speed. Very rare COPO special paint/interior combination. Elkhart Blue paint with Goodwood Green stinger, Green interior, and Black soft top. Body-off restored in show condition. NCRS Top Flight certified in 2004. This color combination may sound ugly but it is far from ugly. It is actually quite impressive. Optioned with M-21, 3.36 posi, SS brakes, AM/FM radio, tinted windshield, B.O. aluminum wheels, and Coker classic red stripe radials. Most all factory correct type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, exhaust heat shields, seat belts, washer system, shifter, shielding, braided wires, air cleaner, owners manual, sales brochure, and T-3 headlights. Documented with the tank sticker (build sheet), original journal from selling dealer, owner history, owners manual packet, restoration photos, NCRS certificate, and judging sheets. Production date of January 17th, 1967 and delivered new by Smith Brothers of Hammond, IN (dealer code 495 in zone 11) per the official NCRS/GM shipping data records (SDR). Very rare opportunity to buy one of the ten special COPO paint cars. Looks, runs, and drives excellent. CC:1. $99,000.00
3) 1967 Corvette Convertible, two tops, 427-400 hp, factory air, 4 speed, numbers match, (appears to be the real deal) with the original factory body/trim tag. Triple Black: Tuxedo paint with Red stinger, Black interior, and Black soft top. Recent professional body-off restoration to factory specified build sheet except paint color was changed to Black as a "tribute" to how rare a real Black 400 hp air convertible truly is, as only 3 to 4 real ones exist and are trading north of $400,000.00. NCRS Top Flight certification achieved in June 2010 which attests to how nice and truly correct this car is. The original factory data (trim) and VIN plates are still in place and have not been swapped out with repro tags. Optioned with factory air, factory side exhaust, power steering, black vinyl auxiliary hardtop, M-21, 3.70 posi, SS brakes, AM/FM radio, tinted glass, rallys, and 7.75x15" red stripe tires. Most all factory correct type components. Documented with the factory tank sticker and owners manual packet. A phenominal car that looks, runs, and drives excellent. CC:1. $160,000.00

I wondered about this. COPO seems to be the big thing now at auctions but would paint color really be significant enough to demand a premium at an auction? I guess what I am really saying is COPO really that big of deal?

10 year profit? Option 4. Take half and put it in solid companies in the stock market. Take the other half and buy a real nice driver. Enjoy the car and watch your money double.

I guess I worded this post incorrectly. What I am really trying to find out is out of the three cars what do you think is the most collectible.

Forget price and investment potential. I personally am attracted to #3 the most. Price and "most all factory correct type components" wording leads me to suspect it's a ProTeam car.
And no wonder #2 was special ordered. Blue with green interior? YUCK!

From a collecting standpoint, I'm going with door number 2. Doubt you'd lose any money on this one, but I can't imagine it would appreciate better then some well advised investments.

If I had money to buy any of those Sting Rays, so I could have a great car to cruise around in - and possibly not lose too much of the car's value doing so - I might ask the same question.
Since I like to actually DRIVE cars, I would take car #1 that has A-C and not the leaky complications of tri-power, or a hard top that will just spend time as garage art on the wall.

Someone once told me the same thing. You will never enjoy your "investment" as much if you dont drive it. The only classics I regret buying are the ones that I didnt drive

Agree with Garrett on #2 - if you could get #3 for around $100,000 then that would be the buy - wrong color should be a HUGE deduct from the $160,000!!!!!

#3 states that is is not an original black car, but rather a tribute. I would not pay 160k for that. Ever.
I would go for #1 if and only if the build sheet and engine were authenticated. marlboro over black/white is a nice combo, plus the original bolt ons makes for the best package (to me anyway).

I wouldn't buy any of them unless it was inspected by a professional even if it has an NCRS cert and that was told to me by the NCRS national judging chairman. I'm having one inspected on Sunday.
