Value of a 59 270hp 4 speed soft top Corvette
I am currently looking for a 58-61 Corvette and found a 59 Corvette that has around 100k miles on it.
I was told it has the original 270 hp dual quad 283 and 4 speed transmission.
The paint and body are in good shape and the car is a driver.
The pictures look good and the car looks complete. He wants $17k for it which sounds awesome, but wondering if this is a scam?
What I am asking is if this could be real or should the car be priced in the 30k range if it is real?

It should be in the high 30s low 40s if real but always follow it up, if you cant come see the car , or its in Buggtussle North Dakota and he will ship it for free its probably a scam. 17k is a steal.

Have you seen this car in person? If not, you need to.
Likely some kind of scam.
Price is cheap, rough value of a decent looking driving car would probably be 25 minimum. A real nice one would be closer to 50.

The 59 is 5 hours away from me, but I have a friend who lives within 30 minutes of it and said he will go look at it for me and take pictures.
I'd hand the title to my low mile 99 C5 coupe if it is real!

I found my 59 for cheap, it was not original engine or transmission, but it was a good driver. Had a friend check it out and it was legit. The guy had it sitting around and wanted to get rid of it.

This is what I am hoping for also. If it is real, I'll get a loan for it or sell/trade my 99 C5.

Make sure someone touches it, looks at title, ect. before doing business. Usually when it sounds too good to be true........Good luck!

Scam...

The rear gear ration is: 3:70.
By few months i'm located in Canada with my job, also my family is here (St. John - Canadian East Coast), but the car is in US. We have to discuss serious about a deal becaus i have to fly back if you are decided to buy the car.
Please understand my point of view exposed below because i want to be sure that you don't need a loan. I had a buyer offering $24,000 1 month ago and I've lost about 2 weeks waiting for him to pay just to find out in the end that his loan wasn't approved.
That's why I'm currently signed up for a protection program offered by Google Checkout and I would like to close the deal through them. If you are not aware of this program you should know that it will allow you to test drive and inspect the car before paying me. You will have a 15-days inspection period to decide whether you want to keep the car or not before they release the funds to me. If we reach an agreement, I am willing to take care of the shipping on my expense to your address or to meet you in person. Unfortunately i'm the only person who can show you the car in person home in US.
Here you can see how it's work : ( http://googlecheckouts.com/overview.php ) and if you like how it's working sing up on them and send me your Google Checkout ID and we can start the transaction. I want to be sure that you understand my point of view and i hope you agree with all.
Respectfully,
Jack

This is what I call the rare "car delete" option. At some point in the transaction you will be asked to send several thousand dollars under some pretext to somewhere the perpetrator has control of the funds before you actually see the car.
The transaction will end there:
