This poor old car
Does anyone feel like giving an opinion of value for this car?
I have a friend who would like to aquire it. I think it would be a ton of fun if purchased for a reasonable $. Had it up on a hoist. The frame and birdcage look really good. Engine crisp. Aftermarket hood. ALL the mechanicals for the headlites are gone - they are just floating [very bad]. Took it for a drive. It wanders but the upgraded later disc brakes all the way around stop it the way they should. Rr wheel bearings seem tight, needs a clutch. My friend is an accomplished car guy, has a fleet of classics now. No plans to restore - just roar around and have fun. Might have some extra value being a '63 coupe. For some reason the side pipes are dummies. Any other observations? If anyone feels like decoding the # plates ...

I like it. I usually like original cars but the fender flares on this car is looking really good so i would keep them.
It all depends on the price if the frame and birdcage(well all of the car) is good i suppose

It looks like someone took off the vin tag for some reason and put another back on..Be VERY VERY careful with this car..My first thought its (or was) stolen...No reason to take Vin tag off...
I personally would pass on it..
Good Luck

That's the way they were in 63. Sometimes the vin tag has more than one spot weld. Spot welding the Vin tag on was always a problem and I think that is why the factory went to the rosette rivet.
I think this vin tag would easily pass judging. Just my opinion.

Yep...my first Vette was a '64 and it was the same way on Vin Tag.
Looks like a cool car. The flares look nice...I'd leave them too.
Tell us what they are asking and it would be alot easier. Underhood or underneath pics?

Definetly something wrong with the vin tag, you can see the grinding marks where it was removed and rewelded. Has the owner said anything about that. I would want to check that out and also compare it to the title.

That's the way it was done in the factory. It's necessary to have an unpainted surface for the spot weld to hold so they ground off paint then spot welded it on.

The trim tag says DAYTONA BLUE 916 Paint. Dark blue, and 490J= Daytona blue interior with U69 AM ONLY Radio. Later cars had AM/FM.
I like the car. A good friend recently bought a similar 66 with a 69 good running 350/350 Corvette engine for $30. He loves it.
