Has anyone found an air cleaner that works with the Eddy 600 cfm 1406 (automatic choke) under a small block hood on a mid year? I'd like to stick with a round one that's chrome.

I purchased an edelbrock air cleaner with a drop base and trimmed the base lip until it all fit under the SB hood without rubbing the underside. I then formed (beat) the base slightly to fit over the electric choke. Used th pcv fitting to that came with the kit to make a nipple for the oil breather hose. Touched it all up with a little black paint.

With the factory lid and 3" filter, it looks pretty stock.

I would think any drop base would work with a little tweaking like Rustman described. The extra capacity would help as well as the C2's are almost as restrictive as the C1's. I had to make a bent throttle rod to clear a drop base on my 1405, but it was worth 1 mpg on highway.
