Real or counterfeit 58-62 part??
Here is a photo of a Corvette Signal Stat flasher that is supposed to be an original ZN-232 for a 58-62 Corvette.
Notice how all the information appears engraved rather than the raised stamped steel numbers in the cover I am used to seeing. EXPERTS, what do you think, real or faked part??????

A sticker??? hmmmm......I can't say. I've never actually seen an original up close, but maybe someone can comment who has one or could post a picture of an original for everyone to see. I have an original for the 64 and it has a rectangular case as above but the info is in the form of a raised stamp. Maybe one of the resident experts can shed some light on this.

Here's what I'm used to seeing in 63-4. Tung Sol also made flashers in this era. Those are the silver "round can" style.
This is an embossed Signal Stat silver anodized flasher.
Later Signal Stats like this one are colored, green, purple, etc.
I know NOTHING of 62, but I can say that I've never seen a flasher like the one in your pic.

According to the NCRS judging guide all 58-60 Corvettes used a silver rectangular ZN-232 flasher. So the shape of the one in my picture (and Chuck's) is correct, what I was wondering about was the writing. It looks engraved to me rather than stamped. I hope someone can post a picture of an original for comparison.

I have seen some signal stats that had painted (silk screened on I think) information on a smooth cover as well as the raised letter type. I was thinking the "engraved" one in my picture might be a fake as the person and place in question has a well known reputation for doing that type of stuff with other parts but wanted to see what the concensus was on this piece. Needless to say, I would NOT buy it.

SHAME on you for not being a member.
It's the best $30.00 +/- you can spend. Worth it just for the Restorer Magazine which comes out quarterly and the Driveline Magazine which comes out bi-monthly.
Anyhooo....
Posted the question for ya over on the NCRS DB today, Wednesday at about 3 PM. We'll see what the gurus have to say.
Wish I could help you out, but I'm clueless about 56-62 Corvettes and have no reference material.

Here's a cut and paste of my post. I posted a pic of your ZN232 flasher.
58-62 Turn Signal Flasher
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posting this for a friend. I have no 58-62 reference material to help him out.
Refer to the picture.
The picture shows a Signal Stat ZN 232 flasher. The "information" appears to be etched on the cover, not raised or embossed.
Is this the correct flasher for a 58-62?
Or, should it be a Signal Stat 142?
Is the Signal Stat rectangular flasher original or optional equipment during the 58-62 era, OR should the car have a round Tung Sol type flasher?
If the Signal Stat is original equipment, should it be silver/aluminum color or are colored Signal Stat flashers OK?
Any input will be appreciated. TIA.
