Each corvette came with "A" top from the factory.
When the car was ordered it came with 1 free top. It could be either a hard top, or a soft top, depending on how it was ordered.
Or for a small fee you could order both tops.

Now, just like everything else on this planet, there IS an exception.
For 60-62 Vettes, IF the 24gal gas tank was ordered, the car ONLY came with a hard top. The soft top COULD NOT be installed because the big tank filled up the space for the soft top to be retracted.
The big tank cars WERE built, but in my lifetime, I've only seen two of them. Also, the immediate EXTERNAL giveaway for a big tank car is the gas filler---------------it came through the gas door-------------ugly, but real and rare.
