Default Son has a c5 needs help!

On the way to carlisle my son in his o4 and me in my 64 his car started running hot. At low rpm about 1500 or so temp. was ok. If he ran it a little bit with the rpms about 3500 or so it would start running hot about 240. and up. AT Carlisle he had a new thermastat put in a 160. When we left the show Sat. it still run hot a high rpm At idle it is just find. No one around here can till us what is going on.Question what would make a car run hat at high rpm but run ok at idle?

Possible airflow blockage - leaves/debris between the condenser and the radiator, front air dam missing/damaged, etc.

Hose collapsing?

Water pump gone? Enough circulation for low speed but not enough when running.

Junk in front of the radiator.

He should have been able to drive home at 1500 - 2000 rpm all the way with how they are geared.

Did you check in the C5 group?

It sounds like his auxillary fan is not coming on.

fan shouldn't play into the problem at highway speeds. should run cool with no fan at all at speed.

Reach up under the front of the raditor and look for a plastic bag or some road trash that may block airflow.

I believe with the A/C on the aux fan is on all of the time at any speed. I just think that it is worth checking.

C5's are known for collapsing the radiator hose. Change the overflow tank cap
