John,

I am also building a 65 coupe, it's the one I have had for 3-4 years now. I currently have a LS7 for it, but am still looking at other options as well LS9 would be nice, but cost vs HP is not that impressive.

Jeff,

That was kind of what I was thinking as well. The extra premium for the LS9 is just too high for the additional HP gained. Even the LSA will probably fall by the wayside, unless I can find a nice pull-out. For less money than a LSA costs, I can take a LS3 and add a supercharger and get more HP.

Default Tire Size

John, what size 375 tire are you considering (diameter/profile) with the winters QC and 1" GTS quarters, thanks.

If there is one thing I have learned on these cars, it that you can't ever get too much tire on one. I am shooting for 375 tires on the coupe.

I looked real hard at the Winters center section but after some conversations with the guy at Winters, I decided to go to a 9" Ford center section. The guy at Winters said that their rear end would take a lot of torque, but that it did not like shock loading very much. I am planning on drag racing the car with DOT slicks, so I opted for the 9".

I will be watching for progress updates.

How did you go with getting the B & J Narrow Quick change housing? Followed your posts over to race-dezert.com and looks like these units were slow to come through if at all. What did you end up going with?
Thanks

Ultimatly 8 inches wide at the CV flanges and can handle more torque than Winters best race unit.

More to come ....

Basically the QC has 10"ring 4.86 primary gearing, Porsche 934.5 CV flanged 40 spline all 300m. Looks like an Auburn gear style locker. Ujoint 1350 Mark Williams quick removel yoke. 8" flange-to-flange. The ring gear has two deflection bolts as I remember and new upgraded double lip outer seals. ( Can now be pressure washed without worry of water intrusion)

That sure is purty!
They did a nice job on polishing that QC I cheaped out and just had my Winter rear QC gear cover polished, but left the main housing as-cast.
