[Pics] I installed a new Hurst shifter and Goldline tires from Diamondback on th '66
I just now got a chance to make this thread, I actually did this work over the Labor Day weekend. Yeah, I know, procrastinate much?
Anyway, as many with a 4-speed Midyear can attest to, my stock shifter was toast. The car was un-drivable because the linkage rods were so bound up. Enter the Hurst Competition Plus Shifter with linkage and rods. I also purchased the shifter shaft from Corvette Central. Not only does it look stock but the "T" even works. You can pull it up and down like the original. Of course, it doesn't actually serve any other purpose since the Hurst has no reverse lock-out, but to the untrained eye, it looks and performs just like stock.
While I was at it, I replaced the shifter boot and the clutch fork boot.
Here's the final result:
While I was at it, I decided to change the tires as well. It had some cheap, Republic Ensign tires on it when I bought it. I decided to contact Diamondback and Carroll hooked me up with a set of P215/70R 15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's with the Goldline on them.
So, I pulled the knock-off wheels, which gave me a chance to check out the adapter, hub, rotors, pads, lines, etc, etc. I had not done this since I bought the car back in March. All looked good.
It also gave me a chance to reinstall the Knock-off wheels in a manner that I know is correct.
And here is the final look of the '66 with the Goldline tires from Diamondback.

She looks great! What a pleasure the Hurst is compared to original rattle trap. How do you like it?
I've got TA's on my old girl and the ride changed dramatically for the better, over the buckboard bias skinnies!

Great looking car. Those gold lines look
I think the dash has a hint of green due to the windshield. Sometimes that black is tricky in pictures. My carpet looks deep purple sometimes.

It looks good and I know it feels good. It's time to put "miles of smiles" on it. Dennis
