Default '60 sending unit

Sending unit sold by CC description states 0-14 ohms. Research here shows it should be 0-30 ohms. I ordered one from Wilcox and it is 0-15 ohms(looked into this when my guage only goes to 1/2 full with new sending unit). What gives here and who sells the right one.

Go to your local FLAPS and get a TU-5. It will work fine for you.

Think he means fuel sender.

You are correct that a C-1 fuel senders should read 0 ohms for empty & 30 ohms full. I bought my sender when I changed the tank from Corvette Specialties of Md in 1997 & it works flawlessly. I dont know about the newer senders.

Also try Quanta in Rising Sun, Md as they are the distributors of the repro fuel tanks.

If you still have your original one, send it to John Wolf to be rebuilt. It will work like new.

Unless they have changed vendors dont buy the one from CC. I did and it was junk. The brass fitting wasnt soldered to the pipe properly and leaked from day one. Later on the float sunk because of a pin hole. Finally removed it and put the old one back in. Let us know if you find a source for a good one!

Likewise !!!

The repro sending unit I got for my '61 from CC was so bad that the float would hang up on other parts of the sending unit - I wound up fixing my original unit two years back and its still working fine. Having said that the C1 gauges are notoriously inaccurate right out of the factory...look on-line for the MIRA analysis done on a '61 vette by the British and you'll see the
test car with only a few miles on it read up to 1/4 of a tank off.

Here is a JohnZ article on testing the gauge and what a good sending unit should read (attached).
