Default Wheel and Tire Experts Best 17" Combo?

I'm thinking of putting some 17" AR TTs on my 65 Coupe.

Can I go 17 x 8 on the rears and 17 x 7 on the front?

Backspacing?

Tire Sizes? I'm looking at 255/40ZR17 rear and and 225/45RZR17 on the front.

Any body running 17s?

Thanks

OK. So I go 17 x 7 AR TT 4" BS. Can I go larger then 225/50R17 on the rear without any issues?

Check out the FAQ sticky and run an "advanced search" of the C2 forum. This has been discussed A LOT.

I have 17x7 4 inch backspace with 235 in rear but do have off set trailing arms and coil overs. With that set up 8 inch rim with 245 would fit as well.

Thats what I am running. Except 55 series (I didn't want any less sidewall than I had to). No room for more unless you go with more backspacing. I think the most you can go there is 5 inches. Then you get trailing arm and spring interference.

I've got 17x8 with 285/40s on the rear and 17x7 with 255/45s on the front. Fronts fit with no mods needed at all and don't hit/rub anywhere. Pretty sure the rears would fit with offset arms, but since I've gone solid axle and had the frame narrowed an inch on each side, I can't confirm that. My wheel tubs have not been modified at all.

How do you get a 285/40 tire on an 8" wheel when the min recomended wheel size is 9.5"? What is the backspacing for your 285/40 in the rear?

Pics Pleeeze!

I think with 8"s on the rear you can get away with a 4.25 -4.5 BS.

Not sure whose pics you were asking for? Here's mine.

They are TTIIs 17x7 4 inch backspace and 225/55 Goodyears.

That setup gives you a factory tire circumference. No speedo gear change.

I think so in the front. The rear could take another .5 +

I'll take some pics/measurements this weekend, if I can.

FWIW, the rears MAY be 9s, but no way wider than that. I know for a fact that they're not 10s.
