Nice pic, but I wish there was a story or video with it. There's nothing!

Safety Car
"Bruce Springsteen purchased this Corvette in 1975, after the success of Born to Run. Photos of the car have appeared on various album and single sleeves. It will be on display at the National Constitution Center, starting next Friday, February 17."

I remember that car well, back in the 70's it did not look exactly like that. More like my 59 which at the time had moondust paint Cragar wheels, big motor and of course **** rugs. I used to cruise the circuit in Asbury Park back in the day and in fact did come upon Bruce in his Corvette on one occassion stopped at a light. I tried to act kool and did exchange pleasantries with him at the time. I always dreamed of getting a picture with him now with the car fully restored. It's on my bucket list. Maybe one day. I loved the look of the car from back in the day.
Used to spend summer vacations with my buds in Asbury Park. A boss of my best friend had a house behind the Pink Flamingo motel and would give it to us for free. Used to cruise the circut and spend time at the Stone Pony.
Good times, great music

What's with that big honkin' radio in his '60?
Looks like an AM-FM-CB from the early 80's.
Bruce does make some really good cruisin' music.

At the time in the late seventies, it was the hot ticket for car tunes.

It was. I saw it there last year while I was in Cleveland for job training. Car needs a LOT of help. It's about 20 years overdue for a resto. Pitted stainless, dead/dull/scratched paint, ratty interior. You get the idea. If it wasn't his car, there would be no interest in it other than when does the teardown start.

Right you are, Paul
Guess it was late '70s. There's one on eBy right now that was bought new in '78. Cool looking radio, actually!
How is it that vintage radios and TV's are so cool? Maybe it's just how a period-correct medium delivers that era, completing the illusion of retreating into the past. Our '79 Airstream still has it's original Motorola AM-FM Stereo and 8 track player, but we have our Sirius satellite radio plugged in because the 8tracks are falling apart.
We onced stayed in a '50 vintage trailer in Bisbee AZ (www.theshadydell.com highly recommended) that featured a beautiful restored interior including a restored 50's B&W TV on which we watched vintage movies (played thru a DVD in the closet LOL.)
If I had Bruce's '60 I'd keep that Pioneer in there just as is (except maybe add a good power amp, updated speakers and an MP3/iPod input )

Hey Bruce: Shouldn't your '60 be a fuelie?
Born To Run
In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway 9,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected
and steppin' out over the line
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young
'Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run
