Ceramic coated factory manifolds?
Has anyone had their manifolds coated to keep them looking new? I was thinking of sending mine out to get coated when i had the engine out to install the tko 600. What are your recommendations to keep iron manifolds looking good, stock but not NCRS level of stock. I dont want to clean them up just to have them rust...

I've only heard good things from guys who have had the high temp ceramic coating done but it is pricey. Others have just media blasted them and painted them with POR 15 Hi temp cast iron manifold paint and they look great and can be touched up when needed. Just a matter of price.

Had mine ceramic coated on the 63 I am restoring-- only caveat from the place that coated them was that on initial fire up don't cook them to death-- have plenty of air moving in the engine compartment. In your case I would think you could just have the car moving, since it is already broken in.

Had them done in Oklahoma City by Performance Coatings. Yes cast iron gray. (405)789 2888 I think that they are actually nationwide so you could probably get them done a little closer to you. Good luck.

I had mine done almost 15 years ago and they still look good. The car is driven quite a bit so it is a pretty good indication of the durability.

Ceramic - New and 5 years later
Here's what they looked like when they were new.
And while not a great shot, here's what they look like 5 years later.
Also note this is not a garage/trailer queen. I drive this car all the time and love it. Ceramic is the way to go.

I did them this past January after researching paintable coatings. So only driven about 200 miles. You should be a little careful with them until they're cured (heated to 300F), but after that the coating is pretty hard. I'm sure it's not as durable as a ceramic coating, but for the price differential, you can't beat it. Here is the information sheet:

Did mine with Por 15 about 2 years ago.......still look like new. Also, it's very easy to touch up.....At first it doesn't look like a good match, but when it dries, it blends in perfectly, and you can't tell where you did the touch up......good stuff.
