Default Steel Cities Grey Paint Question

Anyone ever seen a C2 painted Steel Cities Grey?

Have always liked that color but not sure how it would look on a 65.

I think it would look nice. '66 Mossport Green would be the closest factory midyear color.

I also always liked SCG so I had my '66 Mustang painted that color and it turned out beautifully. I get lots of compliments on the color. It's actually very close the car's original Sage Green Metallic color; so close, in fact, that I left the original paint in the trunk and it pretty much just looks like the same color, just old and original. The original Sage Green is a light silver-green metallic like Mossport. SCG is a little darker and a little less green... it has more gray and blue to it.

Do a search for "overhaulin corvette" they did a 64 in gray for the TV show. Not steel cities but it may give you some idea of the look.

In 1971 I striped my 1963 to the bare fiberglass with the intent of painting it silver... when I took it to the body shop they wanted to know "what" shade of silver. I went through their sample book and just happened to pick Steel Cities Gray... It wasn't until a few years later I realized it was actually a new for 1971, Corvette color. I was very pleasantly surprised how well the color went with the red interior.

Shortly after it was painted I was drafted and the car went into storage... for 37 years. Here it is when we took it out in 2008...

It is currently going through a frame off and is being returned to it's original color of Tuxedo Black.

Good luck... GUSTO

Steel Cities Grey will look GREAT on a midyear.....until a couple of years ago I had an Avanti II which came from the factory in SGC.....beautiful color....it had a red leather interior.....very sharp combo and unique. Couldnt find a pic....I'll look again and post if I can find one. One of my favorite colors (as is Mosport Green).
