How do you check a fuel pump?
Last weekend as I pulled into the garage my 64 started running real ruff and died. I thought I was out of gas so I put 2.5 gals of gas in it. Tonight I go to start it and it will not start unless I pour a small amount in the carb. I pulled the fuel line from the pump to the carb off and there is no gas in the line. Before I pull the fuel pump how do I check it to make sure it is not pumping? The engine is a 327. Thanks

Hook the Fuel line back up or some sort of fuel line and crank it over...if NO fuel Could be the pump.
Also disconnect the line at the sending unit and see if fuel comes out...it could be the problem.

You check flow and pressure.
Disconnect power wire to coil, crank motor and use a coffee can as catch can up near carb from disconnect fuel line (with rubber extension) to see if you get flow, flow should be good, can't remember GPM though. Attach pressure gauge to discharge line, crank motor, you should have about 3-5 PSIG minimum.

....we use to check how far the fuel would squirt from the carb fuel line! A couple of feet was good to go

Gravity will flow gas from the tank to the pump. Remove the flex line from the fuel line to the fuel pump, and see if you get gas flowing out. If not, there is an obstruction somewhere between the tank and the pump. If you get gas there, then the pump or the line to the carb is suspect.
