Seat Belt Labels, 64 label on a 66 car?
I just removed my seat belts to freshen up my interior and was looking at the labels on the Belts themselves.
On the Passenger side, the belts have a label on each saying the Chevrolet, Irving Air Chute Co. .......... Model 772cor-H '65, etc. in very good condition and I will have these transferred to the new set of belts that i will be installing.
Now on the Drivers side, one belt has nothing but the stitching where a label use to be and the other belt has a Model 772cor-H '64.????
Could this be possible that the factory used a 1964 seatbelt in a September 15, 1965 produced 66 car?
Also, would anyone have a nice original pair of labels that they would want to sell me or know where I could purchase a pair?
Thanks

Melting Slicks
Entirely possible that they are original. I've seen parts airfreighted at a vehicle launch, returned 5 years later for credit! The corners of some plants can be black holes!

Agree that it's "possible", but '64-dated belts in a '66 won't fly in judging, where the criteria is "typical of factory production". '64-dated belts in a '66 aren't "typical".

Unfortunitly, I have to agree with you , but isn't that sad. I bought my car from my neighbor who was the original owner. Sat since 1975. With only 36k miles on it, seatbealts where never changed. Even if I could imagine them being changed, somebody went through an awful lot of work to put the early 66 hardware onto 64 belt material. I mean they would have had to sow on the 66 metal hardware pieces then put on 64 labels over the stitching. Doesn't make sense.
I wouldn't change them just because the "book" says so. Shoot, that's how we ended up with so many Black Stinger hoods on Green 67s, because the early edition said it was so.
