Starting on a 66 basket case

Thanks for the tip. I have all the panels rear quarters, complete front clip, all the bonding strips, headlights buckets and they are all GM. I pruchased them back in the late 80s when GM still carried them in stock. The one part they didn't have was the lower valance which I purchased elsewhere and I was not happy with it so I will be replacing that part. Are Shermersheim's panels like the originals??

Nice project
If i was starting a nice project i would have a hard time decide if i was going for the wide wheels with 1,5" stock looking fender flares rear and 1" stock looking fender flares front as well as offset trailing arms or keep the car all original

I struggled with this for a while myself. I decide that since this is a solid car with most of its original parts and being lucky enough to have all the GM body panels I would keep it stock. If the frame was rusted out and the driveline was mismatched it would be a whole different ballgame.

Don't have much advice... but what I would do is join Your Local Corvette Club.
http://www.corvettelegends.com/clubs/nj.htm
Hopefully, you can find someone who is local to you who can help with the project...
At least come over and share a beer (not that ol' keg you have on the shelf) and offer an extra set of hands.
Best of luck!
PS
Take some still shots and stick them in this thread... the video is cool, but the still shots would add something as well!

Suggest you start your own separate thread in the future instead of posting in a thread that's totally unrelated to your question.

IMO, about as perfect as a 'clone' panel can be. I used Shermesheim panels on my '64. Four body panels were replaced. The car was painted a year ago. No problems relating to paint pops, lifting, etc. .. Originally had planned to go with CI panels but reported paint lifting problems at the time nixed this. Glad I went with Sermersheim panels.
Great that you have GM panels. How do you plan to fit those up on the car?

This thread is the first I have heard of Shermesheim. Do you think they will be at Carlisle? As far as fitting the panels goes I have NO CLUE at this time. This is why I posted the video on youtube and came to the forum. The mechanical is no problem but as far as bodywork goes I have never done anything except for laying the primer on the frame 20 years ago.

Doesn't look bad to me. Those flares look very close to what mine has. I'll never change them. Makes big tire fitment a lot easier.
You're going to have some fun. These are basically great big kit cars and are pretty easy to to do.

Thanks Jim, the flares are just a flat piece of fiberglass sheet glued to the wheelwell and packed with bondo to get the shape. I plan on going back to the stock quarters. I am lucky enough to have the original GM quarters. I should be posting a new video in the next couple days.

I was figuring that someone out there has a jig for fitting the front clip. I have been thinking about making up some kind of jig when I get to that point. I plan on going to Carlisle with a list of questions and pick as many brains as possible. The jig question will be right at the top of my list.

Pictures, pictures and more pictures. Before taking each assembly apart and after each assembly is apart. Take pics from different angles before taking it apart. It could be years before you re-assemble (hopefully not but....). Take good notes as you go.
Document EVERYTHING. Save EVERYTHING until the car is finished, no matter how insignificant you think it is.
