Default 1963 wiper arm removal

I am having problems removing the driver side wiper arms. I did notice that it looked like there was a pin holding the arm to the pivot. Is this normal. I need access to change tubing for washer to work. Do I need to drill out to removal wiper arm?

I have never seen this, it doesn't look right, but it's a '63, and they had several one year only features. '63 owners step up! Dennis

That is what I suspected. The pin is only on the driver side.

I'll bet the splines on the top of the wiper transmission are worn down badly and this was Bubba's fix to keep the wiper arm on. Or worse -- that little metal cap that forms the splines and is peened onto the transmission shaft (if a C2 is like a C1) is totally missing...

Looks like a roll pin. Just get a small punch or rod just a little smaller than theoutside diameter of the pin and tap it out with a hammer.
