Default 66 Coupe 13 Month Progress Report

The body came off the frame on Sept 25, 2011 This past winter I had to replace the two side frame rails and the rear crossmember. Painted everything and now have a complete roller minus the driveshaft and fuel tank and a few minor pieces. This in no NCRS deal I have no use for that. I used a Vette Brakes full suspension package, energy suspension poly bushings & Moog parts. The drivetrain is a wolf in sheeps cloths a 496 dressed like a normal 427 the only give away is the oil pan behind that is a a clutch setup that I had in Nova which is comprised of a Centerforce dual friction pressure plate and a Ram 6000 bronze disc. Next the transmission is an Autogear M22W which has a 2.56 first gear. You can probably see where I'm going next, given the power I used a Toms's 30 spline outside spindles an inside stub shafts and built myself a Super 10 with 3.73 gears and a Toms large main cap with 1/2" allen cap screws. This car is going to take a beating so I didn't skimp out on the drivetrain.

I have the body all stripped and also put on two rear fenders and have completely cleaned the underside and it is almost ready for me to paint the underside prior to me dropping the body down on the frame. The car has front fender flares and the front got hit once so instead of fixing a patch of a patch I am doing a new front end from Sermersheim this winter or whenever I get it. I do all my own work except obviously machining of the engine parts. I just finished building the 496 this week so the next step was to put it all on the frame. Enough talk here are some before after photos.

Sept 25, 2011 (That is my dad wondering what the hell did my son get himself into)

Very nice Dave. Rescuing another rotting Vette for future care taking. Like what you've done so far.

No I am not, I'd rather leave it as is and not reduce the frame stiffness.

I must say that looks plenty nice.

Could you post a picture of the brake and fuel line clamp locations. Maybe a pic taken from the rear of the car looking forward? The reason I ask is I'm installing a '67 brake system on my '64 and would like to know the proper location for the clamps.

To show everything I must add a bunch of pictures, PM me your e-mail and I'll take photos of what you need. I don't want to bog down the server with photos.
