Nice! You just saved yourself a boatload of cash by painting it yourself. Looks really good!

Looking Great now on to the fun part. There is nothing like the satisfaction of building a complete car yourself.

Nothing like spending your summer days wet sanding and compounding/polishing your car. I saved money doing it myself and it's satisfying getting that nice shine in end, but THIS IS THE LAST CAR I EVER PAINT!!! Spending $20K to get a show quality paint job is worth every penny.
So here is it the last weekend of the summer and I'm finally ready for the body drop. Here are some pics of the painted body all polished up. I wet sanded with 1200/1500/2000/2500 then used a Flex XC 3401 VRG Dual Action Orbital Polisher with Chemical guys compounds, V34 with orange pad, V36 with white pad, then V38 with black pad. There was a fair amount of backtracking in some areas as I didn't get all the wet sanding scratches out before the compounding stage. On the last few panels, I finished with Buflex 3000 grit pads which allow to go right to V38 after wet sanding which would have saved a lot of time...live and learn. I still have the hood to do.
I could never get the clear to lay down real smooth in the engine compartment with all the angles and tight surfaces, so I had to wet sand and compound everything....very time consuming.

Default Body Drop

I plan on doing the body drop today, so this is the last time I'll see the chassis. Funny how so much time gets put into the chassis when it ultimately gets covered up.
I used Fine Lines in Ohio for my brake and fuel lines. I pre bent 10 gauge solid wire and shipped it to them. The first set they sent me were all wrong, incorrect fitting, lengths, missing pieces, so I had to send everything back for redo. Second set was well done. I think next time I"ll do it myself.

I used a billet battery tray from Detroit speed and had custom battery cables made by custombatterycables.com
I polished the fuel rail, but now the intake looks like crap, so need to get a cover or paint and clear coat it.

I noticed my chromed A/C compressor from Vintage Air was pitting, so I returned it and received a new one from them, no questions asked. This was almost a year after purchase. They even refunded the return shipping cost. Thank you V.A.

Ken, everything just looks awesome. I have always used Billet Specialties for my pulley systems. Can you tell me why you used Vintage Air? I have seen some of the other guys use them and i am on the fence now which one to use on my C2. thanks, Mark

I posted a thread asking what I should use about a year ago. Fellow forum members where real good spending my money as I was trying to decide between a stock setup (~$700) vs. aftermarket (~$2700). Nothing but positive feedback regarding fit for the V.A. setup, compact, and the price was good along with the A/C setup. Although regarding fit, I had to modify the crank spacer to get he bottom pulley to lineup. V.A. was no help on this.
I guess it comes down to what you think looks best as they are all priced within a few hundred dollars of each other, but they are a good chunk of change more than stock.
You also may want to consider what air intake you want. I just ordered the double horn from Street and performance. It may hit the A.C. compressor, so well see.

Body drop complete. On to wiring and assembly.

Thanks guys.
Rich, please PM me your address so I can send back the braces. With your car almost done, you're probably about to get started on another one.

Fat Mat installed. Much more tedious and laborious job than I thought. Funny, I started doing it on Labor Day.
I think next time I"ll try one of those spray on products like Lizard Skin.
