Jeff and Bill (wmf62) have both lived through a gas tank replacement - I haven't.
It may be the ONLY thing I haven't done yet -- so you can believe what they tell you.
You may decide you want to replace that messy rope caulk that seals the fiberglass
gas tank compartment cover to the car body. Most replace it with closed cell foam
insulation off a roll. The kind that's sticky on one side and will adhere to the cover.

Bill, this is what I did after reading that there was no difference. However, on my early 61 (with the hard line attached fuel line), the retainer clips are in the wrong place. No a huge deal, but they are different tanks.
