Default reinforcement steel in C1 body??

Who knows about steel reinforcement parts inside the body of C1 Corvettes?

was just kicked up amongst friends and I would have bet on high stakes there isn't any.

Each door hinge behind the fiber glass (may be conected from left to right side but not sure) and behind the seat inside the fuel tank space along the top edge. This is often mentioned in threads that when this is rotten (especially door hinge steel) you are in big trouble! AND on a 58 inside top of front fenders to stop droop.

There is steel (or aluminum) reinforcements:

1. at the door posts both sides, with steel running to the firewall, and across the dash.

2. under the windshield

3. behind the seats, in the tank compartment, to hold the convertible top plates, seat belt reinforcements, and body mounts.

4. in the rockers, and tied to the front hinge supports (early cars to 57 did not have this).

5. along the top edge of the trunk to support the trunk hinges. Also behind the trunk cardboard for the same reason.

There is more metal reinforcement than one might think !
The '58 also had one year only steel reinforcement bars running underneath the length of the front fenders

Thank you for straithening me up. After the first and second reply I had my eyes wide open. The third with the link to the photos knocked my socks off and posting 4 and 5 gave me goose bumps in the back, that stay and won't go. seems I'am now.
