6 Red with sequential turn signals, and top 'em off with old school "blue dots" Dennis

Since my old Vette has had 6 red tail lights since I've owned it (going on 45 years) I'm naturally partial to that look, but if you want the backup light then I would go with centered between two reds rather than at one end of the group or the other.

Jim, My wife raves about the look when she follows me someplace. Additional benefit is the reflection off of the bumpers. It's like having twice the number if lights. Dennis

I'm with POORHOUSE...6 red make a bold statement.
"And I also know that you didn't want to place the '67 type backup light because it's a period correct '64."
Isn't that a moot point, by having 6 tail lights? The 67 center backup light fixture would be perfect.

No it's not a moot point. Many folks modded their 64's with 6 lights.
The '63 thru '66 all had the round lights only, so going with only round lights in this '64 is the thing to do in my opinion.
Adding the single "'67" reverse light to a '64 body without the "gills" would look out of place, almost like being a poser and wanting or wishing it was a '67. I think Ron is proud of his little drum braked 1964.
No, round only seems to be the only period correct design for this '64.
But Ron, what do YOU say? It's your car!

How many? and so what, to your remark the he wants to keep it original, 6 is not.
But, if he doesn't want the 67 backup, then I vote A looks best.

Perhaps my terminology is confusing, so I'll elucidate.
It's common knowledge that many owners did this to their cars. Exact number would be difficult at best to determine and as a matter of fact, is still occurring.
Never said he wants to keep it original. Period correct doesn't have to mean original or numbers matching. My '65 is period correct to the era of 70's modifications done to these cars, what with the flares and sidepipes and even diamond tuck interior like mine has, as well as the 350 CI engine with the Torker intake manifold it had when I bought it.
I believe Ron's interpretation of "period correct" is the same. Hopefully he chimes in here soon.
But I see your point as well, period correct can mean all original or at least true to original design, so I understand what you are saying brother.
My signature below shows a "period correct" 70's modded 1965. It's a NCRS car (Not Correctly Restored Sting Ray).
And I agree, "A" is the better.

Ok, how about this.
All 6 lights are red, but, when engaged in reverse, one of the red lights spins 180 deg. (James Bond license plate) to a white lens.
If someone here on the Forum can figure out how to accomplish that, I'll pay to have it done to mine.

Three red. Can't see out the back to make the reverse lights worthwhile anyway.
Oherwise... Definitely B. at night with the running lights on it won't look like a vette with the distance between the lights.
