Jimmie, you have made a very valid point and that's why this forum is so great! The distance between the two reds at night can be an issue cosmetically. Don't know why Ron hasn't piped in yet. He can't be that computer illiterate!
Just kidding Ron. Just plug up that third hole and call it good. Here's what the engineers designed for a good reason!

Six red for sure. Someone has some to explain the artistic license done to my car. It still is what it is.

WHAT??? You just called and that is your car!!!
I don't remember those guys or the pic but when i'm done with this post i'll look for the black 67 camero in the background.
Just to give you a bashing like the old days, one red tail light on each side scares the crap out of me. The white back up light is next to it. You helped me cut the third hole for the other red tail light.
Now you say "just plug the third hole and call it good"
Haven't i done enough bodywork already??

I prefer the classic Corvette 4 brake lights. If you must go with 6 (as in, the holes are cut, no turning back now...), Configuration A.

the 67' b/u light is my least favorite item on a c2.....jmo.....

Wow, great to see a post from you, long time.
I agree on the 6 red tail lights.

Bottom line...you can easily change the position of the backup lens and wiring from the center to the inner position, so not that big of a decision starting out. The big decision was cutting the extra holes!

Config A is similar to the taillight config on top of the line Impalas back in the day... i.e. it looks period correct and "familiar".
Config B just doesn't look quite right.... it's visually distracting.
That said, however 6 tail lights, all red, just looks sooooo kewl!

Totally. But if somebody wants two white lights bracketing a single red one in the middle on each side, it's HIS choice, thus the best for his car.
BTW has anybody made AMBER C2 lenses for the Euro turn-signal look? Guess you could always put amber bulbs behind clear ones!

Now that is way cool. I will just have to spend the next four years buying all the C2 tail light assemblys off Ebay for outragios prices. Just kidding.
Config. A seems to be almost the winner. But 6 red seems to be the real winner.
By jumping the backup light switch and replacing the white lenses with red lenses I can compare three red to red white red.
Thanks to all who who have posted...

As for the bean counters, I would guess that plastic light above the plate was cheaper than manufacturing a third chrome metal tail light assembly.
As for the Designers, Back in the day every car from every year had major or SLIGHT design changes. Look at the 63 and 64 coupes.
Look at the 66 and 67 super sports (I had a 66 SS 396 4 speed and hated the changes incorperated in 67, I thought the 67 was ugly)
What about the Nova, Chevy 2. It was a slug, mom and pops car with a four? or six. Then in 65 it got the 327 4 speed and the body changed.
