1967 White Stinger???
i have a 67 / 435 coupe. it's marlboro maroon w/tuxedo (black & white) interior. people (book creeps) tell me that the white stinger is wrong,
saying that it should be black. i've asked NCRS judges and they say white IS correct because of the (rare, code 455) white interior. i'm looking at another red / tuxedo 67 / 435 and the stripe is black?? i've seen both black & white. can anyone shed some light on this and how "RARE" is the black/white interior, code 455 is? any way of knowing how many 67 cars came this way. i love the combo and want to know as much as possible. thanks in advance;

Here are the color combos from the judging guide. Hope this helps It looks to me that a white stinger was not offered on a MM car. Shemp

with Shemp.
Everything I have seen and read says the hood stripe should be Black.
Unless its a small block with the big block hood option then it can be anything you want it to be.

With maroon paint and the black/white 455 interior, the stinger should be black. The white/black 455 interior only got a white stinger with black, red, Lynndale blue, or Goodwood green paint. Maroon paint always got a black stinger, regardless of the interior trim combination.

shemp; thanks.
ejboyd; what's the point spread?? i'd like to explain my "book creeps" comment. in the 70's i had a original 1967 427 / 390 air coupe, lynndale blue w/teal interior, black stinger. i bought the car from the ex-president of the dallas corvette club. you could eat-off the car. i was at the pomona "corvette / porsche" swap meet (which used to be a big corvette meet). a gentleman introduced himself to me as Noland Adams. i shook his hand and thanked him for his restoration book (i was doing my 62 fulie at the time) that he did for the c--1 cars. he told me that he was doing another book for the c-2 cars and would like to "research" my car for his new book. "PLEASE" i told him. some other guy (not with him) was all-over the car for about an hour. i finally said to him "well??" he said, "Wrong tires, Wrong fan belts, Wrong battery, that's the Wrong wing-nut on the battery hold-down bracket" instead of telling him to f@%&-off, i said "thanks for setting me straight. by the way, which one of these corvettes is yours?" he said; "i don't have one, but i have ALL the books and i JACK-OFF nightly reading them". that's what i call a BOOK CREEP. sorry if i offended you.
to fawnduece; i was told this by NCRS guys @ barrett-jackson 5 years ago. i didn't ask to see their NCRS badges. maybe i should have. i also have a fawn 62 fulie. maybe we should start a "62" gang. it's a gang, not a club. my hat's off to you. great minds think alike.
groovyjay; i'll see if i can find some pics and if i can figure-out how to upload, i'll post some. it looks great.
does anyone have ANY #'s or an idea of how "rare" the 455 white/black "tuxedo" interior is in 67? thanks again for your imput. keep it coming;

If your looking for a number 1 of XX then just make one up. that is all you can do. any number is just a guess. I would say that it is rare seeing how you don't see that many either for sale or at big shows.

I ordered and purchased a new 67 marone roadster with white interior and white top. The hood stinger was black.
I asked the dealer if I could have a white stinger. He said they only came black but he could paint it when the car arrived. I left it black.
I got in contact with the current owner about 2 years ago. We exchanged pictures. He had just completed a frame off. When I got the pictures his comment was "Oops someone changed the color of the stinger on you" It was white!!

If you're going for NCRS judging, having a proper color is important.
If not going that route, the only thing that's important is what the owner likes. There are many great-looking Vettes out there which have some thing or some color the factory never heard of.
