Default Torque Thrusts on a C-2

I was searching the forum to locate any owners of C-2s with Torque Thrust wheels for tire / wheel sizes. I just purchased a set in great condition, probably 10-12 years old, grey centers with a polished edges. The fronts are 7" and the rears are 8 1/2". The four inch back spacing is fine and with the rear axle jacked up the wheels outside edge tilts out at the top ( no tires mounted ) just past the quarters width. I am wondering if I will have to stay with a 7" tread width pattern. I know there is enough room in the GTO quarters so I could use them on those two. The black 66 coupe would also look good with them.

The regular Torque thrust will not work on a Midyear with disc brakes. You need the Torque D version with the curved back spoke to fit over the caliper.

You have to use spacers to get them to clear. No problem..same thing with Cragar's.

When I first put my car together I had them. 255/60's on rear and 215/65's on front. I've got small lip flares though.

I then used the polished TTII's with 275/60's on the rear...and now have Cragar's.

Here's a buddy with the same combo..same flares.

And another buddy...we just keep on *ruining* midyears with flares! Actually..the white one installed new 1/4/s and then decided to add flares and copied mine. The yellow one had some real funky flares and he was going to go stock..but after he saw ours...he decided to copy them too! We've got one more in the group that is being painted now..he's trying to decide what to do as he removes the real ugly ones on his car now.

I use either 7" or 8" all the way around.

15 x 6 magnesium Torque Thrust D spokes on my 67

15 x 6 aluminum TT D

The original American Racing Torque Thrust D-spoke wheels are the only Torque Thrust wheels that fit 65-67 Corvettes with disc brakes without using a spacer.

These fit just fine on my 66 Vette, with no spacers (TTD wheels were bought and picture is from 1969).

These wheels were bought in 2000, and will not fit C2/C3 Vettes with disc brakes, without spacers.

Both sets are American Racing TTD wheels (I added the spinners to the above set).

If you don't feel like going retro (which looks great)?

Here's a modern take on TTs 17x7 4 inch backspace 225/55 Goodyears. No flares, still has the inner lips of the fender wells intact.

You didn't mention the exact year, but I have drums all of the way around and I have a 3.75" backspacing on my 15 x 7's. My tires are 215/65/15.

Man, am I glad to see this pic of your wheels and tires. I just came from Daytona Turkey Rod Run and bought 17X7 Torque Thrust II PVD's. I haven't bought tires yet, but you sure gave me some good info as to tire size. I was thinking of 225-50's, but those 55's look great. Are they 225's on your C2?
