Default whats it worth?

Looking for pricing opinions on a 66 427/425 conv that needs total resto. The body and frame appear to be very nice, but everything needs to be done.Looks like it has been in storage for at least 20years,lots of squirrel, mice evidence It is a 1 owner car with a 1970s ce block-low options. Im thinking 15-20 tops. Any thoughts?

Does the car have POP or paperwork?
Does the car have the original motor or drivetrain
Does the car have a no hit body or mostly nice
Early car or later car?
What color combo? (original trim tag thats either red or black add $$$)

All these matter greatly to the value. If its a real 425hp car, original drivetrain, paperwork, good colors, no rust, nice body, $35,000-40,000 all day long maybe more considering how nice the car is.

Unlikely that a 70's CE block would be original to the car. I'm afraid you're going to have to post pictures.

65GGvert-There may be some paperwork, possible original bill of sale. but no POP.
As stated the block was a service replacement installed 1970
the body is very nice with just a bit of work on pass. side rear qtr.
I need to go back and check VIN
colors-silver/black vinyl int
Again this needs EVERYTHING. improperly stored for many years.
With out POP I am still thinking 15-20

I would take some pix if possible and submit to the forum and get some finer details brought to light and opinions from skilled members....if $ is no object pay the man and have one heck of a 66...IMHO or perhaps find a member in your area and tag team it up close...any competion for the sale ?

That wasn't me, it was LPE385 who asked. I was pointing out to him that you stated a CE block, so not original. Some detailed pictures would get you a closer answer, it would be cheaper to buy a restored car or driver car than to restore what you describe. It depends on you time and talent level as to whether it's worth it to you.

Lets review;

1) 66 427/425 Conv
2) 1 owner car with a 1970s ce block-low options
3) The body and frame appear to be very nice
4) Been in storage for at least 20years
5) Needs restored

IF the current owner is willing to part with this car for the small sum of $15-20K you better run to the bank and pay before he changes his mind.

That car wil bring $35K all day long on ebay.

and at the same time...

Here is a 66 425hp car, Trophy Blue Convertible, pipes, looks to be in Driver+ condition for sale at $60K right here on the forum
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1s-...-roadster.html

So...
What would it co$t to make the "project" that seems to need EVERYTHING as nice as the one above? And at the end of the day, its a CE engine...
$30K? $40K? More?

best of luck, regardless

Exactly right ! Might even talk the owner in to a few more bucks off if he'll negotiate.

Wow totally missed the CE block. Ok either way as you said pictures would help. As we know its so difficult to ballpark these cars from an arm chair. There are many tall tail signs if it was an original BB or 425hp car.

The real question is "what does it take to buy it"? Any real BB car or 425 car is worth more then $15,000 to $20,000, if its as original as stated.
