Default Soft top plastic window issue

I bought an Al Knock soft top kit for my 1954 about six years ago. I had the frame restored and top kit installed about six months ago and it looked great. Today, while I was cleaning the car, I noticed what looks like small white acne spots imbedded all over in the clear plastic. I tried using some warm soapy water on it, then a light plexiglass cleaner called Plexus but the spots are well in the plastic.

Anyone else have this issue...and is there a cure?

I would try Marine Plastic cleaner. It was most likely caused by mold. Check out a marine supply house. They have some excellent plastic polisher/cleaner products.

My son used the polishing kit for headlight lenses and the window on his '61 looks like new.

I had the same problem with a top I got from Knoch. The cause is a mystery to me and friends that I have discussed it with. Al Knoch was not helpful in explaining the cause or offering any assistance in fixing the problem. Personally I think the plastic material is faulty (possibly too soft). If you find out what caused the problem, please let me know.

If it is mold - prob from putting the top down wet (or even just slightly damp). NEVER store your top unless it is BONE dry ! Mold is a huge problem here in Florida.

The top has been up since it was installed and I keep it inside my shop with a cotton lightweight car cover on it. Here in So Cal we don't have enough humidity for mold.
