Default '61 FI Tach Drive Cable Removal

While I have the dash out I am trying to remove the dist tach drive cable for lubrication. It is binding and won't pull out from the dash side of the cable housing. I do not want to break it. Does the cable need to be disconnected and removed from the distributor side first? Thanks

I disconnect the cables and remove the distributor. Here is a good link;

I do not want to remove the distributor to just lube the tach cable. Can I just disconnect it from the distributor?

If you want to remove the flex shaft from the casing, it's designed so it can only be removed from the tachometer end, not from the distributor end.

Hi John, The cable will not pull out from the tach end, so something must be binding the cable.
