Hi, I'm new to this site and should have joined years ago. I've owned two Vettes in my life, a beautiful White '75 coupe from 1981 to 1997, and a '60 from 1984 to the present time.

The '60 was a horrible undrivable mess when I bought it. Gunmetal gray, hood scoop, dual antennas, mag wheels, cracks all over, you name a problem, it had it. I was already an NCRS member at the time so with a lot of info at hand I started to "fix" it. But after 4 years of work to make it a fun driver I had to give up, roll it into the pole barn, pull the body and do it right. As soon as I become accustomed to using this site I'll post some pics of the end result, if there ever is an end!

Oh, the '60 is a bit unusual in that it has very few options. Good evidence indicates it came with the 270HP engine, a T-10, maybe positraction, a heater and nothing else. No radio, no visors, no washers, nothing. It was bought to be a hot rod and was treated as such. The inside of the rear housing is badly scarred from multiple differential detonations. She has been on the road since 1991 and she is a sweet ride, in my opinion that is.

Hi 1snake, thanks for the reply. I'll try to send pics as soon as I can figure out how. I belong to ElCamino Central also and posting pics there can be a real chore. In there a thread here than I can go to for directions?

Good catch. I can't type on a good day but now I have a giant bandage on one finger to make it even worse. Damn hammers.

Merry Christmas to all.

I can understand what you are going through. I have only owned my 1960 for 3+ years. Bought it for a retirement project and never expected to do a full restoration. Like you, I wanted to get to a good quality driver. But when I decided to start, there didn't seem to be a good starting point without pulling the body and so I've ended up do a complete restoration. I just got the engine/transmission back in last weekend so I'm coming down the home stretch.

I've done most of the work myself, excluding the major body and paint work, and really enjoyed it except for the large amount of money I've spent.

Here's a link to maybe give you some encouragement

Jim, I think you forgot rule #2 when using a hammer:

Rule #1: pick up hammer with right hand.
Rule #2: put left hand into rear pants pocket.
Rule #3: proceed with project.
