Aluminum intake oil splash sheild.
I just bought an aluminum intake. It does not have a intake oil splash sheild on the bottom. How important is the splash sheild ?

If the exhaust heat riser passage is open and the heat riser valve under the right hand exhaust manifold works, the shield will keep engine oil from heating further on the underside of the intake manifold.
On the other hand, if the heat riser passage is blocked to prevent hot exhaust gas from heating the intake manifold, the hot oil will help keep the intake manifold warmer to improve gas vaporization for better economy. If horsepower is more important than mileage, then the shield will keep the intake manifold cooler.
