Default Removing gas residue from an aluminum intake manifold

Hate to beat a dead horse, but what is the best way to remove the brown residue from an aluminum manifold while it is still on the engine.

Tried carb cleaner, brake cleaner, paint thinner and acetone with zero results.

Chlorinated CNC brake cleaner works pretty dang good... The non-Chlorinate stuff is silly...

Brake cleaner with a kitchen 'scratchy pad' works just fine.

I use simple green and a pressure washer ("quarter" car wash). Works great! Acetone was a risky choice (Paint damage). You must want this off in a big way!

I cleaned my 67 L79 with Gunk last summer and it brightened the manifold considerably...

I did, once. It tended to darken the aluminum rather than lighten it.

If none of the above methods work, give up, take it off the car and put it in the dishwasher on "scrub" or some such setting, with your normal dishwasher soap. Just don't let your wife know what's cooking

I can report that brake cleaner, simple green and carb cleaner have failed to remove anything other than dirt from the aluminum manifold.

Oven cleaner was not tried because the label said not to use on aluminum.
