Finally, real louvers on a 58 Corvette hood.
Great idea and beautiful work.

He used a street rod setup, that mounts perpendicular under the dash with a custom fabricated steel structure thats bolted to the chassis. It's a real trick setup with the pedal assembly all in one unit. I'll take some picks later this afternoon and post, its mounted in the car allready.

This will give us a completly clean firewall.

He also used the structure to hang the tilt column from, with the lowered floor pans we had to change the angle on the streering column, its going to require a little bit of fabrication to fill in the gap at the tach, we also pushed the column back into the dash a little as well.

should be the most comfortable '58 cabin in existence, loads of room.

I love the color! I agonized for almost a year before pulling the trigger on it and couldn't be happier.

OH Yeah, I love to see some pictures of the set up. Both the tilt column and master cylinder. What are you using for a front runner system? Looks like Vintage air stuff.

Good eye, it is the vintage air front runner system, it's all finished up now with compressor installed. The tilt column we used was from Flaming River, not sure if he has it in the car yet, if so I'll get some pics of that as well.

Default Hinged Taillight

Did you hinge the drivers taillight and hide the fill under it? I had this idea years ago and never persued it. Would you share more pics of that if thats what you did.

Updated pictures... We had to put the rear tires on the front and the front on the rear. The back spacing in the rears rubbed on the frame rail, these are just for measurements and for rolling the car around the shop until wheels get fabricated.

I seen on one of your picture that you are using regular squeeze clamps on your fuel lines.
I use some temporally to test my fuel system and they could not handle the pressure.

At 6'4" I'd love to sit in it just once to see what it would feel like with the lowered floor.

The builder is around 6'3 and he fits comfortably. It's a unique feeling to sit in a '58 and feel like you are sitting in the car not on it.

Default Dropped Floor Pans

Do you think the lowered floor pans will interfere with the exhaust system? The exhaust pipes are going to be very close to the ground, I think.

The exhaust will drop down from the turbos and hug the drive shaft under the center of the differential then split to each side and connect to the rear bumpers.

Really don't think it will be any lower than any other restomod.

Thank You, the builder is a great friend of mine as well as being extremely talented, he has personally done everything on the car, and has a great eye for what looks right.

Did you build the '63 in your Avatar? If so, I belive you have set a very high bar for the midyear restomod. I have saved every picture I've seen of the car, just perfect! I will be following your example on the '66 once the '58 is finished.

I have to say that your build is one of the most amazing builds i have ever seen, absolutlely beautiful!! i am also building a restomod 60 but on a much smaller budget, i will keep up with your build and try not to get disappointed in mine, LOL..quick question, is that motor a 6.0L LQ4 by chance because i am thinking of going that direction and why not with the thing producing 500 H.P. with just small changes and at such a relatively small cost its hard to pass up.

Have a good day

Wes
